New Opportunity

Posted by lifengeer on February 25, 2009 at 12:50 PM Comments comments (3)

One of my favorite things to do is talk.  Not just talk about anything but I like to engage in conversation about stuff that matters. I like to talk about things of faith and personal growth. I also enjoy discussing leadership and organization. That does not mean I will not engage in a healthy debate why the Seahawks are the best football team.

This past Sunday I had the awesome responsibility of speaking at New Life in Renton. I have become a member of the Teaching Team and I enjoy the opportunites to communicate at New Life.  This is also great opportunity for me to continue to develop my speaking skills and also be coached by a great leader Pastor Troy Jones.

Here is a link to watch this pass Sunday online.   Bring on the Steak!!!!

Seattle Police Ride Along

Posted by lifengeer on October 22, 2008 at 3:05 PM Comments comments (1)

On Saturday morning at 2am I drove to the Seattle Police Station for a ridealong with good friend. I was on First Watch which is from 3:00am until 12:00pm. I was in for a ride. He was my car:

Some of the calls I went on:

  • Robbery at bar in Seattle.
  • Break-in at old building in Seattle.
  • 16 year old girl runnaway spotted at boyfriends house where she had been living- She had warrant for her arrest.
  • Took young Girl to the juvinile hall for Assault
  • Had 2 Bacon Egg and Cheese Bisquits at Mcdonalds... I love those.
  • Guy stole tabs off a neighbors car.
  • Visited a home where a Father had not returned his kids back to his ex-wife when he said he would because was tired. She was worried.
  • Pulled over a car for speeding. When getting ready to talk to them got called to something else.... They were lucky.

This was all in one shift and the Officer told me that this was a slow day.   I so apperciate our guys and gals in blue. Thanks for making our city safe. The Officer I rode with (David) has such discpline and integriy when he is in uniform and out of uniform. I am glad I can call him my friend.

WOOT!

One of my favorite website sites is www.woot.com. They only sell one item a day and no matter what they sell the shipping is $5. The new item becomes live at 10pm Pacific time so I check it out every night before I go to bed. Here is a list of things I have bought from them:

  1. Vaccuum
  2. Netgear Router
  3. Micro Helicopter
  4. 2 Emergency Road Kits (one for each car)
  5. Speaker for my Zune
  6. DVD Player
  7. Windable Radio and Flashlight

TODAY is a special day because today they are having a woot-off. Thank means they are selling one item but when that Items sells out than they sell another one. This only happens once a month and it is alsways a good day when they do.  Here is an email I recieved from them and helps you get a feel for how fun this company is: Check out WOOT.com

WOOT, INC. INTERNAL EMAIL
STAFF EYES ONLY

Attention Woot employees -

We are now entering the final phase of preparations for the Woot-Off planned for midnight tonight. This is when we depart from our usual deal-a-day model and sell one product after another, offering a new deal as soon as the previous one sells out. For some reason, Woot members like k3rdgeer continue to have high expectations for this event. We must make every effort to ensure that they feel disappointed and betrayed.

All workers should be physically and mentally straining to make this Woot-Off a success, like every muscle in a wolf's body strains to capture and devour its prey. We expect total compliance with the following objectives:

  • Make sure the stables are thoroughly cleaned and the horses properly groomed and shod. As you know, Commander Rutledge prefers to lead us on horseback during Woot-Offs. Charge!
  • Customer Service department: all vacation requests for this week and next are approved. If you have not filed a vacation request, take one anyway.
  • The little green pills in the kitchen are there to keep you alert and working. Take as many as you need. Officially, Woot does not believe in the concept of "overdose".
  • Take at least one of our servers offline, just for laughs.
  • Go to the landfill and dig up some more Sansa media players. If you see any Digipro Graphics Tablets (and you will), grab those, too.
  • Place crap bags in company latrines so those orders can be "filled". To this end, the company will provide free lunch today from El Feo, the filthiest burrito joint in Dallas. Do your worst, guys.
  • Neutralize all negative thinking among our members. We simply cannot tolerate any more posts like "do not want" or "Woot-Off killer". If electronic means like word filters and IP bans do not work, we must reactivate the rapid-response teams to physically eliminate all threats to our reputation.
  • Last time, spot checks revealed that approximately 25% of products shipped are broken, incomplete, or excessively dirty. This is unacceptable. For this Woot-Off, defective shipments must make up at least 40%.
  • Remind SmartPost that there's no need to hurry on these orders. Prompt delivery makes our customers spoiled and argumentative. Let them learn humility and gratitude while they wait.

Above all, we must strive to make this Woot-Off even more tedious, disappointing, and lucrative than the last one. The employee who achieves the most toward this end will be rewarded with one brown Zune. Second place: two brown Zunes.

Forward into battle! Remember: to give one's life for Woot is glorious!

Posted by lifengeer on October 16, 2008 at 6:23 PM Comments comments (1)

I run two Fantasy Football Leagues and I am in the middle of the season. Thought I would share with you an update on the standings:  My team is Thumper.   I am overall having a good season in both leagues and just made a blockbuster trade that will propel me to the playoffs in my Seahawks Domain League. Nothing is worth playing for more than PRIDE.

I Have a Problem-- I Admit it

Posted by lifengeer on October 13, 2008 at 12:54 AM Comments comments (1)
OK OK OK.. This is a part of an email Cubby Graham emailed me.

"You should come out off the closet and admit to the world what a lame blogger you are. It might be a good way to get back on track, because you know the first step in recovery is admitting you have a problem."

I am admitting it - I am a lame blogger. BUT I am  jumping back into blogging. I have actually missed it. So I am jumping back in with at least three blogs a week. If you notice me falling off again email me. I like accountablility.

Thanks Cubby for the kick in the pants.

Are You Ready For Some FOOTBALL!!!!!!

Posted by lifengeer on August 18, 2008 at 1:57 AM Comments comments (1)

This is my favorite time of year. Football Season. This weekend I will have two draft parties at my house. One on Friday and the other on Saturday. Both will start at 7pm and go till about 11:30.  Last year I was horrible but I am coming back this year as strong as ever. My team name is THUMPER, started using that name when ever I played games and needed a good name. Plan on doing some major "thumping" this year.

I will be the Commissioner for two leagues this year. Seahawks Domain and Seahawks Domain Keeper. I'll will keep you updated on how I am doing. Just in case your really don't care.

Long Time NO Blog

Posted by lifengeer on August 4, 2008 at 7:04 PM Comments comments (2)

Well I am jumping back on the Blog wagon. I have been running crazy the last few weeks and have not had a chance to sit and blog.  Speaking and running kids camps has consumed my time this summer. I am amazed it is August. I have one more week of camp to speak at in Southern Oregon and then my summer will be complete. I then have to gear up for my September speaking schedule which has me speaking every weekend at churches and a few classes at Northwest Univeristy.

I say this every the end of every summer but I will say it again this summer with more determination. I am not going to book myself so busy next summer. Tiffany says we need a summer to work on the yard and next summer is it.
